The latest addition in Exopack Advanced Coatings inspire range of medical components is a novel adhesive coated melt blown polyurethane (PU) non wovenÂ
The highly elastic polyurethane non woven is ideally suited to dressings designed for areas of the body that often undergo significant movement such as elbows, knees, and ankles. Designed to stay in place even when stretched significantly, the material is able to recover its shape extremely well and prevents the dressing from becoming loose. The combination of two breathable materials, a non woven and an adhesive, also creates the ideal opportunity for manufacturers to produce dressings that provide a moist wound healing environment.
Unlike thin PU films, where dressings are applied to the skin with an outer covering of paper or film that is subsequently removed, the non woven has enough inherent stiffness to eliminate the need for such complex application systems. Available in white or beige in weights from 50g/m2 to 80g/m2, the melt blown PU nonÂwoven cost effectively combines proprietary adhesive technology with new backing materials to further diversify the range of medical components available from the Inspire range.
New services for medical component manufacture such as product differentiation through printed logos are also being introduced under the inspire  brand.
